उड़ीसा CM नवीन पटनायक आठवीं बार बीजद के अध्यक्ष बने

भुवनेश्वर,कभी महान नेता और अपने पिता बीजू पटनायक की विरासत संभालने के अनिच्छुक रहे ओडिशा के मुख्यमंत्री नवीन पटनायक ने खुद को सत्तारूढ़ बीजद का ऐसा नेता साबित किया है जिसकी कोई चुनौती नहीं है। वह लगातार आठवीं बार अपनी पार्टी के अध्यक्ष निर्वाचित हुए हैं।
लेखक, कलाप्रेमी, कुशल राजनेता नवीन पटनायक कभी राजनीति में नौसिखिया समझे जाते थे लेकिन वह अब उससे काफी आगे निकल चुके हैं।
पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री बीजू पटनायक के तीन बच्चों में सबसे छोटे नवीन पटनायक ने 1997 में अपने पिता के निधन के बाद उनके राजनीतिक विरासत की कमान संभाली थी।
कटक में 16 अक्टूबर 1946 को जन्मे नवीन पटनायक की स्कूली शिक्षा वेलहाम ब्वॉयज स्कूल और देहरादून के दून स्कूल से हुई। उन्होंने दिल्ली विश्वविद्यालय के किरोड़ीमल कॉलेज से स्नातक की डिग्री हासिल की।दो दशक से कुछ अधिक समय के अंदर उन्होंने पांचवीं बार सत्ता संभाली और उनके नेतृत्व में बीजू जनता दल (बीजद) ने पिछले वर्ष एक और शानदार जीत हासिल की।73 वर्षीय नेता को बुधवार को लगातार आठवीं बार क्षेत्रीय दल का अध्यक्ष चुना गया।नवीन पटनायक 26 दिसम्बर 1997 को क्षेत्रीय दल का गठन होने के बाद से ही शीर्ष पद पर बने हुए हैं।
क्षेत्रीय दल का अध्यक्ष निर्वाचित होने के बाद पटनायक ने कहा, ‘‘बीजद जीतने या हारने के लिए चुनाव नहीं लड़ता है। यह लोगों का प्यार जीतने और ओड़िशा के लोगों की सेवा के लिए लड़ता है।’’
मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा, ‘‘मैं राज्य के साढ़े चार करोड़ लोगों को धन्यवाद देता हूं।’’
वह 2000 से ही मुख्यमंत्री हैं और सबसे लंबे समय से ओडिशा के मुख्यमंत्री हैं। चिटफंड घोटाले से लेकर खनन घोटाले तक कई विवादों में रहे पटनायक बीजद के निर्विवाद नेता बने रहे।पटनायक की ‘‘स्वच्छ और ईमानदार’’ छवि का व्यापक असर है और इसलिए भाजपा की चुनौतियों से वह पार पा गए। विश्लेषकों का कहना है कि संभवत: वह पहले क्षेत्रीय नेता हैं जो अपने राज्य की भाषा को उपयुक्त तरीके से नहीं बोल सकते हैं।उन्होंने अपने पिता के लोकसभा सीट असका से 1997 में हुए उपचुनाव में जीत हासिल कर राजनीति में पहला कदम रखा।बाद में जब जनता दल का विघटन हुआ तो पटनायक ने अपने पिता के नाम से क्षेत्रीय दल का गठन किया। उन्होंने भाजपा के साथ गठबंधन किया और अटल बिहारी वाजपेयी की सरकार में 1998 में मंत्री बने।उन्होंने असका से 1998 और 1999 के संसदीय चुनावों में जीत दर्ज की।
बीजद-भाजपा गठबंधन ने 2000 के राज्य विधानसभा चुनावों में जीत हासिल की जिसके बाद पटनायक मुख्यमंत्री बने। गठबंधन का शासन 2004 तक रहा।
बहरहाल कंधमाल दंगों के बाद दोनों दलों के बीच रिश्तों में कड़वाहट आ गई और पटनायक ने 2009 के संसदीय एवं विधानसभा चुनावों में भगवा दल से नाता तोड़ लिया।
गठबंधन टूटने के बाद धर्मनिरपेक्ष नेता के तौर पर उनकी छवि काफी मजबूत हुई।
